random drug test tomorrow at work~~ just found out today.

cincygirl asked:

not sure if I will be tested. BIG PROBLEM. I suffer from migraine’s and arthritis. I am prescribed Percoset and Vikaden. My mom gave me some of her Oxycontin to try to help my pain. Well, they worked so I took another one this morning, and when I got to work found all this out. Will Oxycontin, come up as an opioid just like the perk and vikaden? Please help. I am so freakin out here. Thanks, I only have tonight…..to get the answers. Thank you all ~~

It will come up as a opiate, but if you have a prescription within the past thirty days for any opiate painkiller and can prove it, it should be a non-issue with your employer.

Chances are that the Oxy will appear as an opiate. I trust that you have copies of your scripts that you can present as current evidence that you are prescribed these medications.

Just tell your employer what medications you’re taking, shouldn’t be a problem.

When you get your drug test, you tell them that you have a prescription for percoset and vikaden and they will make sure they take that into account. My hubby had a drug test and he was taking dayquill and it tested positive. He said next time to tell them ahead of time and they will make sure they take that into account right away.

You shouldn’t be taking strong controlled pain meds without a prescription. If you had a prescription, you could show it toe your employers. Otherwise you are in hot water.

Don’t sweat it ……that’s not what they are looking for!

If you have been prescribed in type of medication in the past YEAR you are fine. I personally wouldn’t volunteer the info but if they say anything, tell them you were prescribed it. Most of the time though, they ask before the test.

If you test positive you just get a note from your doctor saying what meds you are on. I had the same thing happen to me. I was on Adderall and it made me test positive for amphetamines….but I just got a note from my doctor and they dismissed my positive test.

These will all show on a drug test, but a confirmed medical diagnosis with a treating physician should take care of your employer. But the adding the Oxycontin to the mix-are you nuts?! You have so many chemicals in your body it is a wonder you are still breathing. Do not ever mix drugs of that intensity. It can literally be fatal.

take your prescription if you have one.The test may be positive, so further tests can be run to Id what is in your system. You can;t fake out of this, so if you did anything else, good by job, and rightfully so.

If you have a prescription for percocet and vicoden, they will not be able to distinguish between those and the oxycontin….
Oxycontin is extended release oxycodone…which is the same as percocet.
As long as you have a presciption, and you don’t have anything else in your system, you’re safe as a kitten.

I’m not sure how detailed the results of the test are going to be (as in can they detect the difference between the perc, vic and oxy) but as long as you provide a valid prescription then there should be no trouble. The only thing that i would worry about, honestly, is the oxycontin showing up in your system. If you do not have a scrip for this then there may be some issues. If anything shows up, just let them know about the meds you are currently taking. That should keep you out of trouble.

It doesn’t differentiate…it will just come up as testing positive for an opioid on the test. Don’t worry about it. Just explain to them that you’re on opioids for arthritis and migraines. Show them the bottles of your most recent refills of Percocet and Vicodin. If they don’t believe you, tell them you can get a doctor’s note that you’re on opioids for those conditions. Hope this helps.

Tell them what drugs you are on legally, and be ready to back it up. The truth is, when they test for drugs, it’s more broad than specific prescriptions. Oxycontin will test the same as Percocet. Just like Opium will test the same as morphine or heroin (for most tests) because they are pretty much the same thing in different concentrations. Stick to your story- do NOT tell them you took someone else’s prescription. That is a guaranteed pink slip. In the future, tell your doctor that your mother has had good results from oxycontin- better than your results with percocet. Doctors certainly give credence to genetic evidence of drug reactions, and that may very well be the case for you.

Any drug test will come up Positive with any drug taken, and theres other ways of easing the pain of migraine and arthritis besides oxycotin!

    But to your Question?
In large part, it depends on your physiological makeup (e.g., your physical height, weight, your amount of body fat, your age, current state of health, whether or not you exercise mildly-aggressively-or at all). Whether or not you are undergoing any degree of stress (i.e., your “state of mind”) at the time you ingest the drug can play a part as well.

Still other considerations include your “frequency” of use (1x per day? 3-5x per day?), the “quantity” of drug you used each time, and the “length of time” (days? weeks? months?) of your consistent drug-use prior to your drug test. Even the quality (“potency”) of the drug you ingest determines “how long” the drug is detectable in your system when your urine is analyzed (tested) at the lab.

However, for most people, detectable levels (i.e., shows up as a “positive” in a laboratory drug test) of the following drugs stay in the body for these approximate periods of time. As you review the figures below, please keep these three thoughts in mind, too:

“Drug-Use Is Life Abuse…Drug-Use Is Self-Abuse…Drugs Destroy Dreams!”

    GOOD LUCK GETTING THE JOB.
